University of Évora presents Student Participation Plan
On the day it welcomes its new students for 2023/24, the University of Évora is presenting its Comprehensive Student Participation Plan, with the presence of the Minister of State and Parliamentary Affairs, Ana Catarina Mendes.
The program for the session, scheduled for September 12, starting at 4pm, includes the presentation of the Comprehensive Student Participation Plan (PIPE-UÉ) by the Pro-Rector for Quality, Planning and Finance, Ana Fialho, also a member of the STUPS project team, under which the plan was designed, and by Suzete Rico, coordinator of the UÉ Student Support Office, as well as the experiences of students who are actively involved in the institution's and the community's activities, from representation on advisory bodies to social, cultural and sporting participation, promoting inclusion and gender equality across the board.
PIPE states that "comprehensive student participation plans are a key element (...) in that they define a broad and coherent set of actions that address all the dimensions in which student participation can be viewed. They are also integrated plans, coherently aligned with the objectives and strategies of the universities, presupposing the involvement of the entire academic community, thereby also contributing to the development of a culture of student participation."
It should be remembered that 1290 new students were placed at the University of Évora in the first phase of the National Access Competition (CNA) 2023/2024, which means that 95% of the places were filled, thus maintaining the university's growth trend of recent years.
For the Rector of UÉ, "the growing demand for the University of Évora proves "the recognition of this institution, which stands for the quality of teaching in all training cycles, where the recent investment in the area of Health, affirmed this academic year with the Integrated Master's Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences or in emerging areas, such as Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, together with the continuous investment in the consolidation of other areas with installed and recognized competences, converge in a consistent strategy in terms of training, which keeps pace with the unavoidable changes of today.
The Rector of the UÉ, Hermínia Vasconcelos Vilar, will welcome the students who are now starting their academic career, in a session that will include speeches by Henrique Gil, President of the Academic Association of the University of Évora and Carlos Pinto Sá, Mayor of Évora.
