The purpose of the UC is to allow students to acquire knowledge that allows them to develop specialized professional skills, to train the family member in the role of caregiver.
It is intended that students can
- Understand the transitional process experienced by the familiar
- Identify the family member's needs in the caregiver experience
- Define strategies promoting empowerment of the familiar as a caregiver
- Define protective strategies of the mental health of the familiar

Teaching Methods

Expository - participatory method. The dialogue, the exposition of ideas based on previous readings indicated by the teacher, will be stimulated, but also based on the students' individual experiences, in order to stimulate critical reasoning, the capacity for argumentation and oral expression.
Individual work based on an interview with a family caregiver of a person with mental illness - 85%; oral presentation of the work - 15%
