Course unit that aims to enable students on the fundamentals for the acquisition and development of skills for the provision of specialized nursing care, at an advanced level to children and young people, from birth to 18 years old or until the transition to adulthood be achieved, in its family and social context, within the scope of the functional content of the nurse / child health and paediatrics’ specialist.
The student is expected to:
- Describe the theoretical framework of Child and Pediatric Health Nursing;
- Develop a holistic view of child / youth / family care, beneficiary of your care;
- List the conceptual models of care centered on the child and family;
- Specify the importance of the care partnership model;
- Identify child and youth health policies;
- Discuss critical thinking and nursing care processes specialized in child health nursing and pediatrics;
- Identify research areas in Child and Pediatric Health Nursing

Teaching Methods

METHODS OF TEACHING:
Expository and participatory approach, encouraging critical and reflective thinking of students.
Analysis of articles and reference documents.
Group dynamics and analyzing situations.
Tutorial guidance for student support in clarifying doubts and learning development.
ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY:
Group work with presentation and individual discussion or individual written test. Each evaluation element should have a rating of 9.5 or more, to ensure success in the curricular unit.
Exam: Individual written test.
