Main Objective - To develop the ability to analytically use sociological concepts and theses. Specific Objectives: 1 - To deepen the knowledge, interpretation and critical understanding of sociological theoretical frameworks, and consequent applicability in a research context. the formulation and analysis of scientific problems about complex social phenomena and their translation into sociological problems.3 - To frame research problems in a position of deep sociological knowledge about the phenomena under analysis, based on relevant scientific updated literature. 4. Involve research in lines and / or group research projects.5 - Develop and critically discuss research work as well as the work of other researchers, specifically in the theoretical frameworks used as well as ethical-deontological issues put them on.

Contents

At this C.U. The insights, theories, arguments and solutions proposed for some of the most relevant social issues are examined. Many of these issues are controversial, as different groups in societies have different opinions about which problems are problems. Problems vary over time in cost, benefits, recognition and legal status.
Explanations of these problems can be grouped into micro, meso and macro levels of analysis. Sociologists who study social problems often emphasize macro and meso levels of analysis and emphasize social, political, and economic contexts.
Every two sessions, a new type of social problem is analyzed, with preponderance to the relationship between contemporary versus classical problems in sociology.

Teaching Methods

Plenary sessions for discussion: i) epistemological and theoretical problems of general interest; ii) and the research problems defined by the doctoral students. Modular sessions to discuss specific theoretical problems and / or specific perspectives of research.
Follow-up and tutorial discussion, individually or in small groups organized by thematic and / or problematic affinities, on the development of the definition of research problems.
Assessment methods: Continuous assessment through analysis and discussion of progress reports submitted - 30%;
Evaluation of the skills of argumentation and orality in the discussion of the design of the research project and the contents of the problematization essay; Evaluation of writing skills, reflection and theoretical argumentation revealed in the conception and systematization of the problematization essay -70%.
