Promoting Breastfeeding

Curso de Formação

Ano Letivo 2024/2025

Course Overview

The WHO and UNICEF recommend exclusive breastfeeding from birth to 6 months, and continued breastfeeding with complementary foods up to 2 years of age or beyond. However, most mothers in some countries start bottle-feeding formula milk and other foods before the age of 4 months, with many stopping breastfeeding long before the age of 2 years. The protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding are a public health priority throughout Europe. Adequate information, education and communication is crucial for the re-establishment of a breastfeeding culture at national level.
