Presentation

The French Language II of level A2 (Elementary) aims at acquiring allows for the acquisition and development of the oral and written skills (production, reception and interaction), grammar practice and vocabulary enhancement, in accordance with the recommendations produced by the Council of Europe A2 (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: learning, teaching, assessment).

(CEFR Level: A2)
Oral Production:
Can give a simple description or presentation of people, living or working conditions, daily routines.
Written Prroduction:
Can write a series of simple phrases and sentences linked with simple connectors like ‘and’, ‘but’ and ‘because’.
Listening comprehension:
Can understand phrases and expressions related to areas of most immediate priority provided speech is clearly and slowly articulated.
Reading comprehension:
Can understand short, simple texts containing the highest frequency vocabulary, including shared international vocabulary items.
Spoken Interaction:
Can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters to do with work and free time. Can handle very short social exchanges.
Written Interaction:
Can write short, simple formulaic notes relating to matters in areas of immediate need.

1. Orality
Oral understanding:
Understanding interaction between speakers;
Listening to announcements, instructions.
Oral production:
Speaking from a written text or visual aids;
Reading a written text aloud;
Acting out a rehearsed role.
Oral Interaction:
Formal, informal discussion, meetings;
Interviewing and being interviewed;
Debate; negotiation
.
2. Writing
Written understanding:
Reading for information;
Reading correspondence.
Written production:
Making notes;
Writing articles, newsletters, reports, memoranda;
Writing letters.
Written Interaction:
Correspondence by letter, e-mail;
Negotiating the text of agreements, contracts, communiqués;

4. Gramática
La phrase complexe;
Les pronoms relatifs;
L’expression de la cause et de la conséquence;
Les temps composés;
Le Conditionnel Présent;
Les adverbes;
La forme «en» + participe présent;
Le moment d’une action «venir de…» ; être en train de…

Teaching Methods

According to the descriptors established for the level A2 in the CEFR, the methodology adopted will focus on the acquisition and development of oral and written skills (production, reception and interaction), grammar practice and vocabulary enhancement.
Evaluation:
According to the Regulamento Académico da Universidade de Évora and the Regulamento de Avaliação de Conhecimentos – Critérios definidos pelo Departamento de Linguística e Literaturas.
Students may choose between two modes of assessment:
Assessment:
(1) Continuous assessment:
a. Written quiz (35%);
b. Oral quiz (25%);
The notes obtained in the written and oral test may not be less than 8 values.
c. Assignments, throughout the semester, in and at home (20%+20%).
(2) Exam (1st and 2nd, special and extraordinary calls): a. Written exam (60%); b. Oral exam (40%).
