Presentation

Minimum theoretical-practical bases for the implementation of disease prevention practices on farm animals, with special emphasis on the prevention of zoonosis.

Learning Goals

Provide the minimum theoretical knowledge required for the execution of animal disease preventive practices regarding zootechnical animals.
Develop skills to delineate management programs, aimed at minimizing the probability of occurrence of diseases in farm animals.

Concepts of epidemiology. Principles of hygiene. Biological and epidemiological characterization of the main nosological agents. Methods of prevention of infectious diseases and parasitic diseases. Applicable legislation.

Teaching Methods

The subjects will be presented in lectures and then discussed in theoretical and practical lessons, with projection of slides and films about the issues addressed, followed by a debate about nuclear issues. In the laboratory practical classes, diagnostic analysis are performed.
Continuous assessment - 2 tests - minimum grade 10 (9.5) values in each test.
Examination regime - written exam minimum grade 10 values.
Whichever regime is chosen, students will have to do a group assignment that will be presented orally.
The final grade results from the theoretical evaluation (80%) and the evaluation of the presentation and discussion of the group work (20%)
