Provide students with knowledge that will allow them to identify the symptoms; Plan, implement, execute and evaluate essential health care based on the biopsychosocial needs of the person with illness, whether medical or surgical.
Specific objectives
-Describes the pathophysiology, symptomatology and diagnosis of the most common acute and chronic diseases with special focus on the adult and the elderly;
-Comprehends the therapeutic regimens associated with medical and surgical affections;
-Characterizes the treatment and forms of surveillance in acute and chronic diseases that are more common or life-threatening, with a special focus on adults and the elderly.
- Understand the basic principles of radiology;

- Communication with analysis of disease situations

Contents

• Introduction to medical history;
• Pathophysiology and semiology manifestations such as, for example, pain and fever;
• Pathophysiology related to systems: Circulatory, Respiratory, Digestive, Genitourinary, Haematology, Endocrine and Metabolic and Neurological. It also includes areas of Orthopaedics and Rheumatology, Dermatology, Oto-Rhino-Laryngology and Ophthalmology.
• medical and surgical pathologies, most prevalent (recognized by epidemiological indicators), related to each of the systems and areas identified above, presenting signs and symptoms and complementary examinations of more appropriate diagnosis;
• Basic principles of Radiology. X-ray protection.
• Shares and educational measures and therapeutic approach of medical or surgical pathological situations in the context of multidisciplinary teams;
• contain relevant information to the Registers;
• Key determinants of health and measures to promote health and disease prevention in the family and community context.

Teaching Methods

Give particular emphasis to the goals and capabilities that promote student intellectual autonomy and their ability to communicate. It provides for the presentation of the topics and discussion with students in order to facilitate a more active and collaborative learning.
The contents will be separated according to their size, in medical or surgical.
Seeks to develop a teaching that encourages reflection and enhances processes of cognitive and interpersonal nature, advocating the acquisition of concepts through a search process.
Are anticipated hours for tutorials.
Evaluation: will be carried out two written assessment tests, using open and closed questions, lasting two hours each, and which will focus on the syllabus covered throughout the Course. It will be possible, complement these two tests, to carry out a public Oral proof, to students who propose themselves. Other assessment tests will be those resulting from RAUE.
