The aim of this course unit is to provide students with knowledge, skills, and competencies to:
. Identify the procedures to analyze qualitative data that are most suitable for the research to be carried out.
. Select and know how to apply data analysis based on the assumptions and procedures associated with each technique in tourism research.
. Gain an in-depth understanding of the content analysis procedure.
. Adopt the most appropriate software for processing and analyzing different types of qualitative data in tourism.

Teaching Methods
During the lessons, there will be times for oral presentation of new concepts and general guidance regarding the data analysis procedures, using the most adequate technologies of information and communication, specific software for processing and analyzing qualitative data, scientific articles, books and other materials that are relevant at any given time, as well as the application of practical exercises, with collective or individual resolution, in person or remotely.The teaching component of this curricular unit is structured in 3 types, corresponding to a total of 30 theoretical-practical teaching hours, 24 hours of face-to-face contact and 6 hours of distance learning, in asynchronous or synchronous mode.
Assessment
According to the academic regulations of the University of Évora, students have the option to choose between continuous assessment or examination.
Continuous assessment:
Participation in a real-life data collection exercise (20%) + Individual assignment (80%).
Exam (supplementary and/or special seasons):
Participation in a real-life data collection exercise (20%) + Written exam (80%).
