Portuguese Art vs. Art in Portugal.
Approaches to architectural space – plan, covering, lighting.
Function and adaptation.
Romanesque and Cistercian Architecture.
Gothic.
Manueline – the art and the style.
Baroque in Portugal and Brazil.
Two particular exemples of museology in Portugal – Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga and Gulbenkian Museum.
Guided tour of Évoras’s main monuments.

Teaching Methods

Thematic teaching and monitoring bibliographic reviews based in proposed reading. Guided tour of Évoras’s main monuments. Students will be asked to provide written work on one of the subjects in the syllabus.

Continuous evaluation: assessment will be focused on the preparation of a full-term written paper, aiming to produce an extended commentary on selected subjects (100%)
