Contents
Concepts, classifications and types of tourism. Landscape, pattern and respective components. Rural, anthropic and cultural landscapes, dynamics and several national and international examples. Multifunctionality of landscapes and tourist resources. Characterization of tourist accommodations and related services. Types of recreation, activities and tourist attractions. Regulatory instruments in relation to national tourism. Proposals for sustainable tourism development projects, in the promotion of little-known regional products and the creation of tourist itineraries in national and international rural areas.
Teaching Methods
The theoretical subjects taught in the course will be assessed in two tests (continuous assessment system) and an exam (exam system).
In the practical work, it is necessary to research the selected topic and organize the available information. Students may choose to present proposals for sustainable development projects in the field of tourism, the promotion of little-known regional products or the creation of tourist itineraries in national and international rural areas (In mobility), which must be worked on and completed outside of class. Students may carry out individual or group work, with the obligation to make an oral presentation and submit the respective monograph, in both continuous assessment and exam systems.

Assessment
The assessment of the course unit takes into account both theoretical and practical aspects:
a) The theoretical component will take into account the material taught during the semester. Two written tests (35% each) or a final exam (70%).
b) The practical component will involve the completion of a practical assignment, either individually or in a group. An oral presentation (maximum 15 minutes) and a monograph (10 to 15 pages) (30%) are mandatory in both continuous assessment and exam regimes.
The final grade will be weighted for each student. In addition to the theoretical and practical assessments, participation and attendance in the continuous assessment regime (minimum of 70% attendance) will also be considered. To pass the course, the different assessment components (theoretical and practical) cannot have grades lower than 8 points.
