Sustainable Development Goals

Learning Goals

With respect to the materials science content, the student should be able to distinguish the physical, mechanical and electrical properties of the various materials, as well as be aware of the selection of materials. In terms of manufacturing processes, the student should distinguish and characterize the plastic bulk forming and plastic sheet forming, cutting and welding processes. The relationship between micro-structure with manufacturing processes must be clear and sound.
The student should acquire knowledge about the most relevant fundamentals of the industrial processing of materials.

Contents

1) Industrial Materials and Materials Science: Properties. Polymers, Metal Alloys, Ceramic Materials, Magnetic Materials, Semi-conductive Materials.
2) Crystaline materials, imperfections
3) Binary phase diagrams
4) Electric properties of metals and semiconductors
5) Mechanical and Thermal properties, rheology
6) Magnetic and dielectric materials
7) Non-crystaline materials
