Goals:
- To characterize this area of study through different approaches and authors/artists;
- To identify departure points within the construction of performance art pieces in different contexts, and to discuss them;
- To follow departure points through defined and effective individual methodologies;
-To reflect on the several creation processes.

Contents

I – Performance and (auto)biographies. Performance as a necessary act within the construction of places of speech. Classical minorities and contextualization of the contemporary body.
II – Performance and contexts.
III – Ritual within performance: object and/or subject.
IV - Workshop of creation: application of knowledge covered in the construction of short performances, their respective analysis and discussion.

Teaching Methods

Teaching methodologies to be used are: exposition, dialogue and simulated practice. Concepts, references and iconographic material – draw, photography and audiovisual material – are presented. The discussion, argumentation and constant questioning within confrontation between the several practices presented as well as the student’s practices.Simulated practice is based on the construction of small individual performances.

Assessment is continuous, which implies the presence of the student at least in 70% of classes.
Assessment includes:
- participation and critical reflection - 25%;
- Written work: short essay on a specific theme - 35%
- 2 practical exercises and respective argumentation, one individual and the other one within a group - 40%
