Learning Goals

This course promotes the study of concepts and practices of the current musical artistic reality, with special emphasis on the Musicology topic of 'Performance Practice': its research and practical results.

- The music of today; the relationship between text, performer, and listener - a postmodern perspective.
- The psychology of performance
- The semantics of performance
- The relationship between performance and analysis
- The relationship between performance and reception

Teaching Methods

Theoretical-practical approach related to the professional context of performance practice;
- Analysis, reflection and research on themes related to musical performance;
- Preparation, discussion and presentation in the classroom of artistic projects related to musical performance;

Assessment

Continuous Assessment (with the following parameters to consider):
Attendance and Participation in classes - 10%
Presentation of an interpretative practice work to be presented in - 20%
Preparation of a critical review and respective oral presentation in the classroom - 40%
Presentation of an artistic project (original) - 30%
The student can opt for a Final assessment: Written test: 100%
