Learning Goals

At the end of this course students should be able to identify and analyse audiovisual works and new media objects
in their narrative component. After this process of deconstruction, students should master the processes of
narrative construction in order to create the necessary guidelines as the first stage of their artistic production.

Contents

Formal elements of the narrative: premise and causality.
Principles of film form. The motif.
Dramatic structure, epic theater, realism and the monomyth.
The script in the experimental film, documentary and fiction.
Principles of new media form: Database, ergodic literature and cyberdrama.
Transmedia Narratives and Narrative design.
The experimental script, documentary and fiction of the new media objects.

Teaching Methods

In the NORMAL SEASON assessment students may choose one of two schemes: Continuous or Final Assessment.
The RESORT, SPECIAL and EXTRAORDINARY assessments are governed by the Final Evaluation scheme.
1. CONTINUOUS EVALUATION SCHEME COMPONENTS
a. Class participation: 20%;
b. Work developed during the period with the aid of the teacher, which must be submitted, at least, to a periodic evaluation with public disclosure of the classifications: 40%;
c. Presentation and defense of the work developed during the classes, which occurs during the "Regular Season Evaluations": 40%.
The student's final grade, which will appear on the Normal Season student’s exams list, is the sum of a), b) and c).
2. FINAL EVALUATION SCHEME COMPONENTS
a. Work developed during the period with the teacher's aid: 40%;
b. Examination based on the contents taught: 60%.
