With this curricular unit, it is intended the students acquire and develop knowledge and skills in Community and Public Health field, using health planning methodology and epidemiological analysis.

With this curricular unit, it is intended the students acquire and develop knowledge and skills in Community and Public Health field, using health planning methodology and epidemiological analysis, that enable them to:
• Establish, using Health Planning Methodology intervention projects/programs in the field of health prevention, protection and promotion by doing health diagnosis of a community;
• identified determinants affecting groups/community and population health;
• participate on epidemiological monitoring of a specific geographic area;
• participate in the execution of activities of health programs or health plans regarding global health determinants in terms of behaviours and environment

Contents

1. Health diagnosis;
2. Project goals, objectives and priorities to develop during clinical practice;
3. Health determinant;
4. Setting priorities;
5. Setting health indicators
6. Schedule and logistical conditions to implement the project.
The total number of hours of the Curricular Unit includes 40 hours for report

Teaching Methods

The internship must take place under the guidance and supervision of specialist nurses in the field, in Public Health Units or Community Care Units.
At the end of the Master's the student must have completed at least 500 total hours in each context.
Student´s evaluation results from the evaluation of two components, the clinical component (50%), which results from hetero-assessment (35%) and self-assessment (15%) and the second component corresponds to the preparation of the report (50%), which expresses the health diagnosis performed.
The student will be successful if the final classification is equal to or greater than 10 points.
