Teaching Methods
Lectures and practical classes that follow the subjects taught in the lectures.
We provide a large set of exercises, covering the topics of the course and with increasing degree of difficulty, so that the students can practice their skills.

Assessment
The assessment comprises the following components:
a) Written component: three written tests (3 × 25%), or one final written examination (75%). Students may choose between continuous assessment through the three tests and final assessment through the final examination. All students may take the resit examination.
b) Practical component: development of a programming project (25%), optionally carried out in groups. The project comprises the software, a report, and a presentation, on a date to be agreed upon.
The practical component is compulsory in all assessment periods.
Minimum mark for any assessment component: 8 out of 20.
Oral Examination
If it is deemed necessary to verify the extent to which the student has developed the knowledge and skills set out for the course unit, the teaching team may summon the student to an oral examination, under the terms of the nr. 13 of Article 110 of the Academic Regulations of the University of Évora, with the conditions set out in the nr. 4 of Article 116 and the nr. 1 of Article 118 of the same Regulations being ensured.
When triggered, the oral examination shall carry a weighting of 75% in the final grade of the course unit, to be combined with the remaining 25% of the practical component (which includes a presentation/demonstration).
