Learning Goals

The course Introduction to Management and Entrepreneurship seeks to make the combination of the fundamental principles in the management of organizations with the tools needed to promote sustained development of a business idea.
The course is taught as obligatory for the Degree in Tourism.
In we will discuss the different themes underlying the management of organizations and entrepreneurship.
In addition to these materials will be analyzed cases of companies and entrepreneurs and promoted critical thinking of students to question reality as well as teamwork.
In terms of skills is intended to: provide students with a comprehensive overview of activities and functions of adaptive management to business objectives / activities; fostering entrepreneurial attitude; promote critical thinking and citizenship; fostering oral and written communication; encourage the ability to work as a team.

Teaching Methods

Association of the presentation of concepts and approaches / theoretical models for the lecture method, the characterization and case-based reflection, research and small exercises encouraging the active participation of students and critical reflection. In order to establish greater contact and interaction with students and as a means of providing material support to the syllabus taught during the semester, the teaching staff constantly use the platform of e-learning at the University of Évora (Moodle).

Evaluation Students who choose the system of continuous assessment are subject to completion of two written tests for individual assessment in the classroom (Frequencies) and two Work Group (WO) (composed of 3-4 elements). The final classification results from the weighted average of marks obtained in two assessment tests - 1st Freq. - 40%, 2nd Freq. - 30%, 1thWG-15% and 2nd WG-15% (WG Oral presentations are mandatory).
