The Curricular Unit seeks to:
- present the research methodologies of Political Philosophy;
- analyse themes of modern and contemporary political philosophy.
- Improve the analytical and critical skills of students.
- Provide tools to improve the skills for academic work.

Contents
The Curricular Unit is divided into two parts. The first part focuses on the classical problems of political philosophy and is organized in two fundamental topics:
- Theories of the "Political".
- Theories of the State.
The second part analyses contemporary political philosophy issues and is divided in three mains lines:
- Political Philosophy and globalization. Thinking politics beyond the State.
- Political Philosophy, subjectivity. power. From politics to biopolitics.
- Political Philosophy in Information Society.

Teaching Methods
Attendance regime and, in duly justified cases, possible online participation. Seminar work with theoretical exposition and accompanied by reading and commenting on texts. The debate is favored, which will seek to involve all participants and to occupy a substantial part of the sessions. Occasionally, the teaching may integrate sessions held by guest lecturers or be expanded through the participation of students in scientific meetings, which take place on related themes/areas.
The assessment will be based on:
1) attendance and active participation (25%);
2) each student will have to make at least one oral presentation about a text, a topic or present a report of a (50% - 75%);
3) eventually, at the end of the semester, a written essay related to the content taught, integrated conferences or dissertation developments (25% - 75%).
