Learning Goals
Preventive archeology usually finds vestiges of the modern and contemporary times. It is very relevant in the urban space, but it is also important in the rural world, where we see, on the one hand, changes that led to the characterization of current rural spaces and, on the other, continuities that constitute social and economic testimonies of the past and heritage elements to preserve and enhance.
It is intended that the student
1) identify the main elements that characterize material culture in the modern and contemporary periods between the 15th and 20th centuries, especially in the Western Mediterranean, in a diachronic perspective;
2) use the vocabulary, concepts and categories of the archeology of these periods and
3) learn about the main historiographical debates on current themes, of great social impact, such as the archeology of historical memory or the archeology of conflict, in order to
4) develop observation, analysis, communication and civic intervention skills.
