Theoretical and practical foundations of postural alignment.

Sustainable Development Goals

Learning Goals

1. Know the fundamental anatomy of postural stability
2. Know the articular movements
3. Understand the theory of muscle balance
4. Know the forms of stimulation of strength and flexibility for muscle balance.
5. Know the ideal posture in everyday positions and activities
6. Understand the importance of stability and neutral position of the pelvic and scapular girdles
7. Understand the types of breathing and their function
8. Identify pathologies of the spine and misalignments of the lower limbs
9. Know postural assessment methods
10. Investigate postural reeducation techniques

Skills:
1. Domain and acquisition of correct postural alignment and movement patterns and their transfer to activities of daily living and future professional activity
2. Correction and self-correction of the main misalignments in the other and in the same
3. Design of postural re-education interventions and their operation with specific populations, in the professional sphere.

Teaching Methods

For one semester, weekly, students will have a theoretical of 60 minutes and a practical laboratory of 120 minutes. The active learning methodology will be privileged, so that the student develops intervention and research skills in postural reeducation. To this end, group work, research of scientific articles, interventions in the community will be carried out whenever possible, promoting autonomy, constructive criticism, sharing, among others, using new technologies including the Moodle platform.
Continuous assessment includes the following assessment moments:
1. Theoretical evaluation, through frequency (60%);
2. Practical assessment, which focuses on the realization of works through forms, and the planning and conducting of a postural reeducation session (40%).
Final evaluation comprises a theoretical evaluation, through a written exam (60%) and a practical evaluation (40%), which consists of planning (scientifically based) and conducting a postural reeducation session.
