Sustainable Development Goals
Learning Goals
- To contribute to the knowledge of cognitive-behavioural models.
- To promote the development and training of assessment and conceptualization skills in a cognitive-behavioural perspective with adults.
- To facilitate the learning and training of cognitive-behavioural intervention techniques / strategies with adults.
- To allow the knowledge acquisition about etiological and maintenance factors of some major psychological disorders.
- To contribute to the development of a critical reflection attitude appropriated to the clinical work with adults.

Teaching Methods
Students are provided with a set of key texts. The UC framework is done using interrogation and exposition to promote questioning, reflection and discussion. In addition, and because it is intended that students also learn the know-how, it is used the behavioral and cognitive modeling and role-play. Students are offered different tasks, having to do three cases conceptualizations and a group work around techniques/strategies typical of cognitive-behavioral interventions. This work involves literature review, the construction of a technique notebook and its presentation to the class. This presentation includes a proposed activity that facilitates the learning of these strategies/techniques by the class. The conceptualization is made on clinical histories given to the students. Throughout the semester, students are assisted / guided in small groups in the construction of its works, having the possibility of going continuously improving.
Assessment
1. Continuous assessment: Requires participation in at least 75% of classes and comprises 2 assessment components:
a. Three case conceptualizations and respective intervention proposals. The final calculation of these exercises has a weighting of 50% of the final grade.
b. A ??small group work on a set of intervention techniques/strategies, with a written support and a presentation. This work has a weighting of 50% of the final grade.
2. Final assessment: Individual written exam, consisting of two parts: a first, more theoretical part consisting of a case formulation (with a weighting of 50% of the final grade), and a second, eminently practical part on cognitive-behavioral intervention strategies and techniques (with a weighting of 50% of the final grade). If the student has successfully completed some of the exercises/work throughout the semester, and is interested in doing so, parts of the exam may be replaced by the grade obtained in these exercises/work.
