By the end of the course, students should have achieved the following objectives:
- Understand the importance of interpersonal relationships as a key factor in hospitality in the context of the hospitality service.
- Identify the types of tourist accommodation according to Portuguese legislation.
- Identify the main sector players associated with the hospitality sector, both nationally and internationally.
- Know the main procedures for managing accommodation in terms of front and back office operations.
- Understand, in the context of defining business strategy, which accommodation management processes relate to business dynamics, supply and demand trends, among other factors.
- Characterize the management processes within the hotel sector and identify the respective intermediation strategies appropriate to the business context.

Teaching Methods

Oral presentations by using information and communication technologies, case studies, research articles, texts from trade journals. Practical exercises in the classroom. Application of exercises outside contact hours. Participation in seminars with expert speakers in the field of hotel management; application of case studies and/or study technique visits. Some tasks/exercises can be performed through the moodle system.

Assessment

Continuous assessment: 2 written tests (40% + 60%)
Assessment by final Exam: Normal season | Supplementary Season | Special season | Extraordinary season - 1 written test (100%)
