Acquire skills to care for the woman inserted in the family / community during the prenatal.
Skills:
Show knowledge and skills to diagnose pregnancy and assess maternal-fetal well-being.
Shows, in a simulated context, the acquisition of skills to assess pregnancy, relate Health Education and lifestyles for a healthy pregnancy, learn about support measures to alleviate the discomforts of pregnancy, promote the birth plan.
Demonstrates the ability to integrate knowledge that allows cooperation with other professionals in the treatment of women with complications of pregnancy, with associated or concomitant pathology and in basic life support measures for women in critical situations

- Physical and midwife assessment.
- Additional diagnosis exams, recommended by national standards.
- Development of the pregnancy, discomfort and uterine growth patterns.
- Nutritional needs during pregnancy.
- Medication and Vaccinations during pregnancy.
- Assessment of mother and baby well-being.
- Prebirth diagnosis.
- Techniques to relief discomfort during pregnancy
- Birth plan

Teaching Methods
Teaching includes classroom training, case studies requiring research and reflection and laboratory exercises. Individual/group tutorials serve to complement the various teaching methods.
The assessment and development process takes into consideration all the objectives, competencies and course unit's programmed contente.
Continuous assessment with an exercise, in the format of attendance, and a work group. Quotation: individual work 60% and work group 40%
Students that fail to attend at least one of the assessment exercises must sit an exam.
