To be able to apply appropriate statistical methods, emphasizing the interpretation of the results.

Contents

Descriptive statistics
Introduction to probability
Random variables : unidimensional and bidimensional
Main probability distributions
Point estimation and confidence intervals
Hypothesis testing
Goodness of fit and independence tests
Other non-parametric tests
Correlation and linear regression
Use of statistical software.

Teaching Methods

Theoretical and practical lessons. When appropriate, use of projection slides. Introduction of theoretical concepts using examples covering various areas of application.
Students' motivation for going to lessons as well as continued monitoring of the subject taught.

Assessment

The assessment is planned to be continuous through two frequencies. It may also include individual or group work. Non continuous assessment through final exams.
