Summary
Fostering inclusion, equity and equality is of primary importance at a variety of levels across Europe. In the same vein, building and promoting diversity-inclusive and connected higher education systems is also one of the key priorities for European Union, as is clear from several policies focusing on inclusion issued by the European Commission. This project addresses this priority in a twofold manner: by focusing on a target group of early-career researchers (ECRs), the majority of which will be selected according to the level of opportunities that are available to them in the context of institutional, geographical, cultural and economic circumstances and by explicitly working on diversity and inclusion related issues. Proposing an inclusive, accessible and sustainable researcher development and engagement path for the ECRs involved in language education, the project intends to capitalize on all the potential the field of interculturality offers to respond to the increasing concerns for inclusion, equity and equality. In this way, this transnational project seeks to achieve increased capacity for wider and inclusive access of its target group to researcher development and engagement activities addressing diversity, interculturality and equity through easily-accessible open online pedagogies.
Goals, activities and expected/achieved results
(pt) O projeto EUREDIE foi concebido para responder às crescentes preocupações com a inclusão, equidade e igualdade, propondo um caminho de desenvolvimento e envolvimento de investigadores inclusivo, acessível e sustentável através de uma abordagem de interculturalidade para um grupo diversificado de ECRs envolvidos no ensino de línguas em toda a Europa. A implementação do projeto renovará a importância do campo da interculturalidade em relação à educação inclusiva da diversidade e servirá principalmente as necessidades dos investigadores em início de carreira envolvidos no ensino de línguas. Permitirá um maior conhecimento e sensibilização para o papel da interculturalidade na promoção da diversidade social e linguística e uma maior compreensão e envolvimento na produção de conhecimento inclusivo e equitativo, entre os ECR envolvidos na investigação em educação linguística. Também criará maior capacidade para a construção e utilização de um ecossistema digital para o desenvolvimento e envolvimento de investigadores sustentáveis, inclusivos e facilmente acessíveis. Para gerar um impacto mais amplo e uma rede de ECRs em toda a Europa, o projeto irá capitalizar os recursos e oportunidades que as tecnologias digitais oferecem hoje e adotar uma estratégia participativa e baseada em dados para a produção de conhecimento.
O resultado final pretendido pelo Projeto EUREDIE é a geração de uma via de desenvolvimento e envolvimento de investigadores inclusiva, acessível e sustentável para os investigadores em início de carreira envolvidos na investigação em educação linguística, para abordar a crescente diversidade social e linguística presente no ensino e investigação linguística, utilizando uma abordagem de interculturalidade, capitalizando os recursos e oportunidades que as tecnologias digitais oferecem hoje e adotando uma estratégia participativa e baseada em dados. Para alcançar este resultado global, o projeto pretende alcançar os seguintes resultados específicos: (a) Relatório tripartido de acesso aberto recolhido a partir de uma revisão do campo baseada em dados, incluindo a revisão da literatura em toda a Europa na última década, as perceções dos ECR sobre a interculturalidade no ensino de idiomas e análise de suas necessidades relacionadas à pesquisa; (b) Programa de estudo on-line baseado em problemas/tarefas, oferecendo uma escola de verão intensiva on-line de seis semanas e três módulos para um grupo seleto de ECRs envolvidos no ensino de idiomas; (c) Plataforma digital para e-learning para pesquisadores e Networking, compreendendo uma componente de aprendizagem eletrónica aberta e autónoma sobre questões relacionadas com a interculturalidade e o ensino de línguas, incluindo portfólios eletrónicos interativos incorporados, um manual do investigador online e um espaço interativo para discussão e networking. A produção dos resultados visa, portanto, alcançar os seguintes resultados: (1) uma nova perspetiva para abordar as muitas formas e aspetos da diversidade envolvidos no ensino e na pesquisa de línguas, maior capacidade para a utilização de um ecossistema digital aberto para o desenvolvimento sustentável, inclusivo e facilmente acessível e um caminho de envolvimento de pesquisadores em um variedade de campos envolvidos na investigação em educação linguística; e (2) maior conhecimento e consciência do papel da interculturalidade na promoção da diversidade social e linguística e maior compreensão e envolvimento com a produção de conhecimento inclusivo e equitativo, entre os ECRs envolvidos na investigação em educação linguística.
(en) The EUREDIE project is designed to respond to the increasing concerns for inclusion, equity and equality by proposing an inclusive, accessible and sustainable researcher development and engagement path through an interculturality approach for a diverse group of ECRs involved in language education across Europe. The implementation of the project will renew the significance of the field of interculturality in relation to diversity-inclusive education and mainly serve the needs of the early-career researchers involved in language education. It will enable increased knowledge and awareness of the role of interculturality in promoting social and linguistic diversity and greater understanding and engagement with inclusive and equitable knowledge production, among the ECRs involved in language education research. It will also create increased capacity for the construction and utilization of a digital ecosystem for sustainable, inclusive, and easily accessible researcher development and engagement. To generate a wider impact and network of ECRs across Europe, the project will capitalize on the resources and opportunities that digital technologies offer today and adopt a participatory and data-driven strategy to the production of knowledge.
The ultimate result intended by EUREDIE Project is the generation of an inclusive, accessible and sustainable researcher development and engagement path for the early-career researchers involved in language education research to address the increasing social and linguistic diversity involved in language education and research, by using an interculturality approach, capitalizing on the resources and opportunities that digital technologies offer today and adopting a participatory and data-driven strategy. To attain this overall result, the project aims to achieve the following specific results: (a) Open-access tripartite report gathered from data-driven review of the field, including the review of the literature across Europe in the last decade, ECRs’ perceptions of interculturality in language education and analysis of their research-related needs; (b) Problem/Task-Based Online Study Program offering a six-week three-module online intensive summer school for a select group of ECRs involved in language education; (c) Digital Platform for Researcher E-learning & Networking, comprising an online open self-directed e-learning component on interculturality and language education related issues, including embedded interactive e-portfolios, an online researcher's handbook and an interactive space for discussion and networking. The production of the results is accordingly intended to achieve the following outcomes: (1) a novel approach to address the many forms and aspects of diversity involved in language education and research increased capacity for the utilization of an open digital ecosystem for sustainable, inclusive, and easily-accessible researcher development and engagement path in a variety of fields involved in language education research; and (2) increased knowledge and awareness of the role of interculturality in promoting social and linguistic diversity and greater understanding and engagement with inclusive and equitable knowledge production, among the ECRs involved in language education research.
