Summary

Rocky intertidal shores can be considered almost ideal outdoor laboratories with reduced costs and have long been a wellspring of ecological theory. The coast of Sines region is mainly rocky and several ecological studies in rocky shores in this region have been carried out during the last decade.The purpose of this project was to develop scientific thinking skills in pupils in the context of marine ecology of rocky shores by their participation in different steps of scientific research. These steps were developed during one school year and the students have participated in each step, from observations/description of patterns, hypotheses, design and set-up of field experiments, to data discussion and presentation of results to the public.The students enrolled in this project were be from different grades (5th, 8th and 12th grades) and come from two schools of Sines.

O objectivo geral deste projecto foi desenvolver o espírito científico dos jovens através da sua participação em diferentes etapas da investigação científica que decorrerão ao longo de um ano lectivo, no âmbito da ecologia marinha da zona rochosa intertidal.
