Ecosystem Functioning of freshwater (streams, ponds, lakes, mesocosms), marine (Estuaries, continenetal shelf, deep sea) ecosystems; Food Webs; Stable Isotopes; Functional indicators
My research activity focuses on investigating freshwater and marine communities (macroinvertebrates, nematodes), their distribution patterns and functional role. I'm particularly interested in benthic trophic interactions across macroecological gradients. I'm also investigating of how climate change will impact food webs acroos biogeographical locations using IberianPond network of freshwater mesocosms. Currently I focus on marine (estuarine and continental shelf) benthic food webs, including macrofaunal and meiofauna assemblages for future application in Marine Strategy Framework Directive.
