Marine biology and ecology
My research interests include the study of (1) physical and biological processes shaping the distribution patterns of invertebrate species in temperate rocky shores, (2) cross-shelf transport mechanisms and the influence of behaviour in the retention and dispersal of larvae in nearshore waters, and (3) population biology, sustainable use and management of coastal marine resources.
Most of my research has been done at the SW coast of Portugal at the Laboratório de Ciências do Mar (CIEMAR) in Sines (37º 57´N; 8º 53´W).
