Course Overview
This advanced training course ?Globalization and Development Challenges? is part of the training offer of the UNESCO chair ?Education and Science for Development and Human Well-Being? (EDUWELL). The interdisciplinary course seeks to develop learning in the Portuguese language, training people capable of deciding on public policies, teaching and producing research, especially in Portuguese-speaking countries. The course has 2 curricular units, which include thematic sessions, seminars and round tables, aimed at understanding and testing strategies and public policies that promote sustainable development. The course will be taught by a diverse faculty members, enabling students to a) identify causes of structural trends in the global economy; b) evaluate its impacts on developing countries; c) know strategies and public policies to promote development; d) promote economic, social and environmental sustainability; e) recognize the role of international organizations in development; f) publicize the SDGs and reflect on strategies in the face of the current environmental and climate crisis. It is intended that the student acquires knowledge and skills to evaluate and act on the multiple dimensions that characterize the globalization process, in favour of effective development strategies.

The Course offers postgraduate training with 12 credits, allowing you to update your knowledge on the current context of the globalization process and the inherent challenges facing the development of countries. The Course is primarily aimed at professionals and students who intend to carry out professional activity in the transversal area "globalization, governance and development", enabling them to carry out activities in this area.
Specific Entry Requirements
Can apply to obtain this Postgraduate Degree:
- Holders of a bachelor's degree or legal equivalent;
- Holders of a foreign higher academic degree, which is recognized as meeting the objectives of the degree by the competent scientific body of the higher education institution where they wish to be admitted;
- Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum, which is recognized as attesting the ability to carry out this cycle of studies by the competent scientific body of the higher education institution where they wish to be admitted.
