Presentation

Taking in consideration the ongoing digital transformation, it is assumed that the mission of education is to contribute to the understanding of emergent digital worlds as well as to create the right contexts for the learning of children and young people to develop naturally (according Seymour Paper

Sustainable Development Goals

Learning Goals

1. Explore the potentials and limitations of digital artifacts in the universe of children and young people.
1.1.It is able to identify quality and evaluation criteria (safety, fun, diversity of experiences and appropriate to the child's age and development).
2. Apply principles and fundamentals of programming and computational thinking
2.1 Is able to understand the fundamentals of programming and computational thinking (algorithms, logic, data structure, problem solving, binary language, eg.)
3 Analyze and discuss pedagogical approaches associated with digital technologies (DT)
3.1 Is able to identify, discuss and apply pedagogical approaches focused on diverse learners in the educational use of DT.
4 Analyze trends and perspectives in the field of DT and education
4.1 Is able to adopt a critical, informed and constructive perspective on the educational use of DT in education.
4.2 It is able to adopt a critical, informed and constructive perspective on the educational use of DT.

Contents

1. Learning, playing and growing within digital worlds (from the analogic to the digital; toys and electronic gadgets, smartphones and tablets)
2. Robotics and programming for children.
3. Digital literacy - information and media literacy; protection of children and youth, through safe and responsible use of digital technologies; communication and collaboration in digital networks.
4. Pedagogical approaches associated with digital technologies (differentiation and personalization, active involvement, accessibility and inclusion).

Teaching Methods

In this UC the learning laboratory allows the implementation of three educational work environments:
1.Storytelling: a space for sharing life stories, case studies and experiences of direct manipulation of artifacts and analog toys (books, blocks and puzzles, mechanics, pe) and electronics (robots, tablets, stories and digital games, pe );
2. “Learning & Programming”: students have the opportunity to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge that will allow them to develop programming and robotics projects.
3. Creation of digital videos that express the diversity of perspectives and pedagogical approaches to the use of digital technologies in education.
Continuous Evaluation Regime
1. Learning Diary (50%)
2. Portfolio (50%)
Final Classification = DA + Portfolio / 2

Examination Evaluation Regime

Theoretical / practical assessment exam (100%).
