Learning Goals

Objectives: This course aims for students to master a set of new computer technologies applied to the treatment of archaeological images, and to be able to apply them in concrete situations of archaeological work practices - drawing of archaeological materials; drawing of plans, profiles, elevations, etc; topographic plant design.

Competences: ability to use information technologies and computer means; ability to present works in digital format. They must also be able to develop a critical spirit in assessing the potential and limitations inherent in basic information, archaeological design and digital cartography.

1: Introduction to Informatics applied to Archeology. The new technologies
2: Components and features of the different types of programs;
2.1. Adobe - Photoshop CS;
2.2. Adobe - Illustrator CS;
2.3. Corel
2.4. Software for surface modelling: Surfer
2.5. How to capture monuments, sites and archaeological artifacts
3.: Digital photography of archaeological artifacts
4. Photogrammetry and 3D modeling

Teaching Methods

Oral transmission of knowledge supported by audio-visual and technical methods. Use of software to support practical classes. Debates with the students. Individual and collective sessions to support practical work.

Assessment

Evaluation: Practical work (s), mandatory, of application of the programs (100% of the final grade) or Exam. The final assessment is made in the form of a final exam and can be made in any of the exam periods provided.
