Develop knowledge and skills for the appropriate use of communication strategies with those involved in the care process;
Be able to manage interpersonal communication in the therapeutic relationship with the person/family in the face of critical illness and / or organ failure;
Understand the problem of the crisis situation associated with the experience of complex processes of critical illness and its impact on the person/family, as well as strategies to deal with the situation;
Develop emotional competences that allow them to assist the person/family, in the emotional disorders resulting from the critical health situation;
Acquire strategies to guide the process of communicating bad news;
Demonstrate knowledge and relationship skills that facilitate the grieving and dignified death processes;
Identify the needs of the family/caregiver of the person in critical situation and mobilize knowledge and skills to respond appropriately, involving the family/caregivers in the care process.

Teaching Methods

The methodologies are preferably active, through expository and interactive sessions, using the sharing of experiences, case discussions, brainstorming, role playing, text analysis, visualization and critical reflection of films, making, presenting and discussing group work and oriented study.
Evaluation:
The realization of a written group work, with a maximum of 4 students, focused on the presentation and reasoned analysis of a practical situation, framed in the contents / objectives of the course unit, with a weighting of 85%.
Oral presentation and discussion of group work, with a weighting of 15%.
Assessment by exam:
Individual written work with discussion.
