Learning Goals

The student is expected to:
- Analyse theories and conceptual models with implications for medical-surgical nursing, people in critical situations and / or organ failure;
- Know how to recognize the importance of theories and conceptual models, in the diagnostic evaluation and in the nursing intervention;
- Analyse the Quality Standards of Specialized Nursing Care in People in Critical Situation of the Order of Nurses;
- Identify differences in the different classifications of interventions and results in nursing, CIPE, NIC and NOC;
- Develop clinical reasoning, in the diagnostic evaluation, in the statement of the interventions and in the evaluation of the results to the person in a critical situation;
- Recognize the different contexts of care and the management of intervention priorities for the person / family in a critical situation and / or organ failure.

Contents

1 - Conceptualization in Nursing:
- Theories and conceptual models in nursing.
- Conceptual framework of nursing in the specific area of the approach to people in critical situations.
- Quality Standards of Specialized Nursing Care in People in Critical Situation of the Order of Nurses;
- Classified Languages in Nursing (CIPE, NIC and NOC).

2 - Nursing for the person / family in critical situation and / or organic bankruptcy:
- Contexts of nursing intervention for critically ill patients.

Teaching Methods

A teaching model centered on the student and defined learning outcomes is required, which encourages reflection and values cognitive and interpersonal processes, advocating the acquisition and development of concepts, problem solving, constant research and work practical where aspects of therapeutic intervention in nursing are clearly identified.
The search for knowledge resulting from the evidence related to the themes contained in the syllabus, instills a methodology that students must use during the course and later take it to their internship and workplaces.
Evaluation:
The accomplishment of a group work (maximum of 5 students) - Work that analyzes a theory or conceptual model and its application in the evaluation of a diagnostic situation and respective proposed interventions (60%), presentation of the work (40%).
Assessment by exam: Individual written work with discussion.
