To Analyse the key concepts and theoretical references in community and public health and the intervention of the specialist nurse in Community and Public Health Nursing in different contexts and areas of practice.

• To know the main historical landmarks in the evolution of the community and public health nursing, basing its analysis of the specialized practice in the theoretical and historical references
• Discuss the skills and practices of the specialist nurse in community and public health nursing
• Problematize the nursing process in intervention with groups and communities
• Analyse the intervention of the specialist nurse in Community and Public Health Nursing in different contexts and areas of practice.

Contents

1. Conceptual foundations: health, public health, community health and global health. community and public health nursing. Concepts of community, empowerment, and community participation.
2. Historical evolution of Community and Public Health Nursing
3. Competencies of the nurse specialist in Community and Public Health Nursing
4. Theoretical references in community and public health nursing - theories and models of nursing in specialized practice
5. The nursing process - groups and community as a target of care
6. Practices in community and public health nursing - intervention in: school health, occupational health, vaccination, epidemiological surveillance, health planning, vulnerable groups / populations.
7. Intervention contexts: SNS health units, humanitarian and development organisations, municipalities, companies, and associations.

Teaching Methods

The development of the contents has a theoretical and theoretical-empirical basis, combining theoretical exposure of the syllabus with exercises in the classroom; analysis and discussion of cases; ; seminars with experts and research and synthesis work.
The continuous assessment will consist of an individual written work with the curricular unit of Community Nursing and Public Health I.
Exam evaluation - Written work (60%) with oral discussion (40%)
The student cannot have an evaluation lower than 10 values in any of the evaluation dimensions, whether written or oral.
