To foster technical and artistic performance, as well as individual creativity, in a way that builds upon the objectives and competences developed during the 1st cycle and the UC Instrument I.
To stimulate an interdisciplinary approach to the curricular unit, in a synthetic perspective that brings together knowledge gathered during the 1st cycle and the UC Instrument I, as applied to the field of instrumental/vocal performance.

Contents

Study (and subsequent public presentation) of specific works of the instrumental/vocal repertoire (Interpretation), excluding orchestral excerpts; one work composed in the last eighty years must be included.
Jazz specific instrumental practice (and subsequent public presentation) (Jazz)
Organization of complementary activities (thematic seminars, public presentations, valorization, extension and communication projects), when pertaining.
Specific bibliographical revision.

Teaching Methods

Definition of the individual program and bibliography, according to the student's profile, by the teacher.
Individual lessons based on an interactive teaching methodology, including commentaries, exemplification, suggestions, feedback, reinforcement, practices of formative evaluation and self-evaluation, detailed indications concerning the work to be done in autonomy until the next lesson and respective planning.
Organization of complementary activities (auditions, seminars, master classes, etc.)
Evaluation:
- definition and pondering of continuous evaluation parameters concerning the student?s participation, assiduity, performance (in autonomy, in the classroom and in complementary activities), progression - 25%
- public exam before a jury, consisting on a musical performance of about 40 to 60 minutes (Interpretation/Jazz), including a minimum of three contrasting pieces, one of which must have been composed in the last 80 years, in the former case - 75%.
