This curricular unit provides a general perspective of the Archaeological Heritage, from investigation to promotion, privileging the existing in the South of Portugal

Know the different types of archaeological heritage and the national and international legislation applicable to archaeological heritage.
Recognize possibilities of enhancing the archaeological heritage.
Develop projects and activities to increase the dissemination and safeguarding of archaeological heritage, linking archeology to the various models of communication and sustained promotion.

Contents

1. From the interest and curiosity for Archaeology to the constitution of Archaeology as a science
2. Legislation and documentation on Heritage in general and Archaeology in particular 2.1.
2.1 The institutions which protect the Cultural Heritage
3. The different types of Heritage
4. From the archaeological field work to the recovery, enhancement and dissemination of the Archaeological Heritage
5. The Archaeological Heritage of a cultural and economic product resource

Teaching Methods

The teaching methodologies are diversified, combining the oral presentation made by the teacher with the development of students' skills for the construction of critical thinking on the syllabus, autonomy in the teaching-learning process and self-evaluation. It is valued a participatory learning that invests in intervention and debate in the classroom, in the autonomy of research and in demonstrating the ability to organize, systematize and analyze the information made through the application of knowledge.
Teaching methodology using the analysis of texts, images, sites and monuments.
Continuous assessment (one test and/or one practical work: 50%+50% or 100%) or examination (single semester test: 100%).
