Learning Goals

This curricular unit aims to provide a broad perspective of the History of Portugal, in the European framework, in terms of cultural, socioeconomic, political and institutional structures as well as at the main moments and factors of rupture and their general impact. It also aims to enable the students:
- to correctly use the appropriated concepts;
- to know and understand the basic historiography debates on the unit contents;
- to get the ability to write and expose a well-argued paper;
- to autonomous develop a basic work project.

Teaching Methods

The teaching methodology is diversified trying to promote an active and participative learning. The concepts and the theoretical fundaments of the curricular unit will be exposed using the analysis of different sources, encouraging the students to participate through research work, the organization of information and the systematization and analysis of the recommended readings.
Evaluation: exam or continuous evaluation. Continuous evaluation: research paper and its writing and oral presentation (50%) and an exam essay (50%).
