Learning Goals

At the end of this course, students should have acquired introductory skills in order to identify and use the techniques and practice related to the production of audiovisual and motion graphics content in communication design.

Contents

- Motion graphics concepts: communication design using time, space and motion.
- History: from the avant-guard until the MTV aesthetic : Rutmann, Bass and Cooper.
- Audiovisual and multimedia formats: film and show titles, branding, bumpers and interstitials, advertisement and videoclip, websites, kiosks and DVD.
- Motion-graphics project: creative management and processes.
- Animation principles: the 12 rules, motion, gestalt theory, static and kinetic typography, storytelling and style.
- Audiovisual practice: dynamic framing, editing and transitions.
- Post-production applied to motion graphics.

Teaching Methods

In the NORMAL SEASON assessment students may choose one of two schemes: Continuous or Final Assessment.
The RESORT, SPECIAL and EXTRAORDINARY assessments are governed by the Final Evaluation scheme.
1. CONTINUOUS EVALUATION SCHEME COMPONENTS
a. Class participation: 20%;
b. Work developed during the period with the aid of the teacher, which must be submitted, at least, to a periodic evaluation with public disclosure of the classifications: 40%;
c. Presentation and defense of the work developed during the classes, which occurs during the "Regular Season Evaluations": 40%.
The student's final grade, which will appear on the Normal Season student’s exams list, is the sum of a), b) and c).
2. FINAL EVALUATION SCHEME COMPONENTS
a. Work developed during the period with the teacher's aid: 40%;
b. Examination based on the contents taught: 60%.
