Presentation

In Applied Geophysics course, the most relevant geophysical methods for the study of the most superficial layer of the earth's crust are described, with the objective of discovering, delineating and evaluating geological resources essential to human life, such as minerals and groundwater.

Sustainable Development Goals

Learning Goals

It is expected the students know the fundamentals and applications of the main methods of Applied
Geophysics. At the end of the course it is expected the students know how to project and perform
basic geophysical surveys in geological situations not too complex, as well as to interpret the
collected data during the surveys.

VI - Electromagnetic methods - Ground penetrating radar.

Teaching Methods

The teaching method consists of lectures as well as hands on practical on numerical problems and interpretation of data obtained in geophysical prospecting campaigns.
The evaluation will be carried out through continuous evaluation and/or a final exam.
In the first case, two tests will be performed whose final average will have a minimum grade of 10; however, neither of the two frequencies can have a grade lower than 7.5.
If the student chooses an exam regime, the minimum grade will also be 10.
