The UC of Field Archaeology I aims to teach students methodologies of archaeological prospection, essential to the profession of archaeologist, by conducting field classes where they learn to identify and characterise archaeological sites of different chronologies.

Provide students direct contact with the reality of archaeological research by conducting field classes (archaeological prospection) under the scope of research projects of teachers (according to the legislation in force, namely paragraph g) of art. 2 of Decree-Law No. 164/2014 of 4 November).

Contents
1. Archaeological prospecting
1.1. the different types of archaeological prospecting methods
1.2 the identification of sites: learning to understand the landscape, by chronological periods
1.3. the archaeological materials: typologies and difficulties of recognition, in the field
2. The recovery and valorization of archaeological remains
3. The preparation of technical-scientific reports in accordance with the legislation in force ( Decree-Law 164/2014, 4 November)

Teaching Methods
The evaluation will be conducted through:
- Participation in field classes (40%);
- Conducting a report on the site (s) in which it was conducting field classes (60%) - this report should be in accordance with the provisions of Archaeological Work Regulations (DR nº 164/2014, November 4)
