		  		      1. Strategies and tools for data collection (interviews, questionnaires, observation...)
2. Resources and techniques of data analysis (available software, statistical analysis, documental analysis...)
3. Quality in educational research (questions of internal, external and conceptual validity, reliability and generalization, quality criteria in research in education).
4. Ethics of research in education (protection of participants and institutions involved in research, integrity of research and responsibility to the scientific community, researcher responsibility attitude).
5. Presentation and reporting an investigation (thesis, scientific article, communication in scientific congresses, dissemination of knowledge to professional audiences and society in general).

Teaching Methods
		  		      The work in is developed by the responsibility and action of the teacher and is based on the preparatory work done by the doctoral students that serves as support for the accomplishment of activities of varied nature (collective discussion and small group around the issues under study). The basic elements of the work are selected theses, books and articles.
The approach to the themes takes into account their multiple relationships and seeks to respond to the most relevant questions emerging from the experience of doctoral students, not necessarily sequentially.
When appropriate, the classes have the participation of invited participants (researchers and doctoral students) on the subjects of the curricular unit.
The evaluation will consider three main elements: (i) student participation in discussions (20%), (ii) justified choice of a scientific paper (20%) and (iii) critical analysis of the selected article, with particular focus on the methodology (s) used (60%).
