Learning Goals
The primary objective is to promote the achievement of a global view of the current state of scientific knowledge in the areas of artificial intelligence and data science, through contact with concrete projects, and also the sharing of experiences with active researchers, as well as cases of practical studies in the business context. This unit should develop critical skills, understanding and summarization of scientific works, and also broaden the understanding of problems beyond the technical-scientific context, encompassing an ethical perspective.

Teaching Methods
Exhibition by guests of the respective areas of expertise in both academic and business contexts of the various topics, in seminars, followed by clarification of doubts and debate.
Presentation of seminars by the students, followed by debate.

Assessment
Continuous assessment:
- Summary report on one of the seminars (30%)
- Presentation of a group work on a relevant topic in the course area (40%)
- A first proposal for a summary of what students intend to accomplish in their dissertation/internship (30%).
The final grade of the curricular unit is obtained through the weighted average of the 3 components.
The student has final approval if the final grade is equal to or greater than 10 values.
Final evaluation:
- The final grade of the curricular unit is obtained through the weighted average of the 3 components used in the continuous assessment, with submission in the regulatory period of assessments.
