Learning Goals

-To consolidate and deepen the knowledge of aspects of the linguistic norm, updating fundamental expertise to teach Portuguese language at the "3ºCiclo" and secondary levels.
-To master up-to-date linguistic terminology and the correlated linguistic analysis.
-To master the most recent oficial documents whch rule the teaching practice on the domains of Language and Linguistics.
-To characterize the process of Aquisition od European Portuguese, at the several linguistic levels, understanding the impact of the teaching system, with influences in both ways.

Contents

1. Aspects of the linguistic norm.
1.1 The New Agreement Spelling of the Portuguese Language - rules and application.
2. Aspects of th description and analysis of the linguistic norm.
2.1 The "Dicionário Terminológico" (Terminological Dictionary) and the analytical frameworks associated.
2.2 Compared analysis of current terminologies.
3. The "Metas Curriculares" (curricular goals) document.
3.1 The domains of Orality and Grammar - relations with the official Programme.
4. The process of aquisition and development of European Portuguese.
4.1 The boostrap.
4.2 Phonetic, phonological and prosodic aspects.
4.3 The modules of morphology and syntax.
4.4 The text level.
5. Aquisition and learning of Portuguese - interrelations.

Teaching Methods

Colective teaching sessions; theoretical exposition (supported by texts or other materials, including powerpoint presentations), followed by practical exploration; group works; written exercices; individual and group oral presentations.
Tutorials: project orientations; correction of works and exercises.
The continuos evaluation option includes group and individual works, to do along the semester, in and autonomously (worth 10%), an two individual writen works (worth 45% each).
The exam option (with three different moments: "normal", "de recurso" e "especial") includes a written test, valued in 100%. Students with marks between 8 and 9,4 (out of 20) in this test will submit to an oral test.
The mixed option values the final exame in 70% and the final mark of the semester in 30%.
