            	  Presentation
		     The aim of this UC is for the student to understand the concept of patient preferences, to acquires knowledge on the instruments for their investigation and to appreciate the relevance of their integration in industry, in health regulation and in the assessment of health technologies (HTA).

	  Sustainable Development Goals
Learning Goals
		  		      It is intended that at the end of the unit the student will be able to:
- Define the concept of patient preference, distinguishing it clearly from patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and patient-reported experience measures (PREMs);
- Recognize the importance of patient associations in providing knowledge about drug and medical device R&D processes, their contribution to patient literacy, and facilitating patient involvement in health technology assessment (HTA).
- Identify and describe good research practices in the development, design and execution of patient preference studies;
- Describe how to measure patient preference and how to interpret study results;
- Recognize the concept of value in the context of patient preference;
- Identify ways to integrate patient's preference in the industry; in the regulation of health activities and; in health technology assessment (HTA).

Teaching Methods
		  		      The UC will take place between synchronous sessions (9:00 am- in which the central concepts present in the program will be presented, going beyond theoretical exposition to the critical analysis of scientific articles and patient preference studies) and asynchronous teaching via internet (21:00 pm- when support materials will be provided to the student, the development of their project will be monitored and, finally, each individual project will be evaluated).
The final evaluation (0-20) results from the assessment of the oral and written presentation of the design of a Patient Preference Study (PPS).
