Teaching Methods
There will be a structured presentation of the syllabus and guided reading and discussion of documents, e.g., scientific research reports, related to qualitative data analysis in Psychology. At a practical level, examples and demonstrations will initially be used, allowing students to understand how previously acquired knowledge can be applied in practice. In a subsequent phase, with supervision and guidance from the teacher, students will work on the different elements related to the qualitative data analysis. This connection between theory and practice aims to foster students' motivation and involvement in the teaching-learning process.
Assessment
The continuous assessment of the Qualitative Data Analysis course unit includes two elements:
1) Participation in a qualitative research project and preparation of the respective report (60%); and
2) Assessment of a report on a qualitative research project in accordance with the APA Standards for qualitative primary studies (40%).
Elements 1) and 2) can be carried out individually or in groups of up to three students, in which case there will be an individual discussion of the work submitted by the group.
Considering all the elements, students who achieve an average grade equal to or higher than 9.5 points are considered to have passed the continuous assessment. Students who fail to achieve this grade will have to take the final assessment.
The final assessment, i.e., by exam, is done through a test assessing knowledge and skills (100%).
