Presentation

This UC intends to develop a set of knowledge and skills in the field of psychological assessment that may be relevant in different clinical contexts of psychologists practice.

From the perspective of theoretical knowledge:
Understand the objectives and types of questions posed in clinical psychological assessment
Understand different types of instruments and characteristics of psychological functioning to be assessed in different populations and clinical contexts
Understand the underlying theoretical foundations, characteristics, and use of different clinical assessment instruments
Understand the different elements that should be included in a clinical psychological assessment report.

From the perspective of skills:
Reflect on the importance of assessing various dimensions, which are relevant for a comprehensive understanding of individuals' psychological functioning, and on the characteristics and methodologies of psychological assessment in clinical contexts

Teaching Methods

The teacher combines a lecture-based teaching methodology with practical activities in coding and interpreting protocols, and case study analysis and group discussions.

Assessment

The assessment for the course unit through the continuous assessment system involves taking a test, completing a group practical assignment, and participating throughout the semester via autonomous tasks and in classes. The test has a weight of 35% of the final grade, the group practical assignment has a weight of 30% of the final grade, and participation has a weight of 35% of the final grade. The group practical assignment involves conceptualizing a case.
The final assessment consists of an individual practical assignment on case conceptualization, the same as in the continuous assessment system, and an exam, with the respective weights of 40% and 60% of the final grade.
