Domínios/Especializações

I am an applied plant pathologist who expertise in soils borne pathogens, the diagnostic of plant diseases caused by nematodes, and the classical and molecular nematode diagnostics. In addition, I have extensive training in modern molecular biology, phylogeny, genetics and bioinformatics. My particular strengths include a fusion of conventional and molecular methodologies in the identification and diagnostics of plant-parasitic nematodes combined with expertise in molecular phylogenetic analysis, and gene expression.

Interesses

I am interested in research to improve knowledge on plant protection, plant-nematode interaction, pathogenicity and taxonomy of plant parasitic nematodes. I am interested in the study of dagger (Xiphinema spp.) and needle (Longidorus spp. and Paralongidorus spp.) nematodes, as well as their associated viruses, mainly Grapevine fanleaf virus (GFLV). My particular strengths include a fusion of conventional and molecular methodologies in the identification and diagnostics of plant-parasitic nematodes combined with expertise in molecular phylogenetic analysis, and gene expression. Also, I have a remarkable experience and expertise on aspects related with pathogenicity of plant parasitic nematodes.

Atividades

Studies on the biology-ecology of plant parasitic nematodes and the interaction of host-nematodes using proteomic, genomic and transcriptomic approaches are highly interesting topic for me.
