This course is an essential instrument of international-political knowledge, as it examines the great visions of the world, theories of globalisation and major interpretations of the future of international relations.

The course aims to examine the normative and political structures of the international system, focusing the debate
on the great challenges in an era of paradigmatic transition, namely through the critical and hermeneutic examination of the current currents of International Relations. The students will have understanding of the
foundations of the great challenges of the international society.

Contents

1. The Western tradition in international relations. 2. The crisis in international political and legal order
international order in the 21st century. 3. Globalization or global system? 4. Critical-hermeneutic examination of realism, English school of International Relations, critical theory, constructivism. 5. Critical debates with case studies.

Teaching Methods

As allowed by regulations, the students must participate in the lectures and they must write an essay until
5,000 words that will be discussed.
