Provide students with the knowledge on how the abiotic and biological factors shape the interface systems, between the continental and the marine waters, determining its structure and function, and providing some level of professional skills regarding the management / conservation / restoration of these systems.

Factors of primary productivity.
Flocculation and "nutrient trap".
Nurseries and oceanic productivity.
Coastal Lagoons.
Types of coastal lagoons according to the connection regime with the sea.
Coastal lagoons as retaining environments.
Accumulation of detrital organic matter and risks of dystrophy - summer mortality
Haline stratification and oxygen depletion in the hypolimnion
The Ocean.
Zonation. Marine productivity, upwelling.
Coastal processes, coastal drift, erosion and deposition.
Management of coastal areas.
